E-communications

Information security protects the confidentiality, integrity and availability of all the information required to provide services to the public. The E-communications Usage Policy applies to everyone who uses the Council's computers and phones.
Why do we have an E-communications Usage Policy?
• Encourage consistent & professional use
• Protect the Council and all users from security risks and legal liability
• Protect the reputation of the Council and the services provided to the public

The following documents have been generated by Leicestershire County Council and may contain items of interest for the development of safe e-communications practices in your parish.

Parish domain name - ordering documents

Use your own unique parish domain name (www.mypc.org.uk) to raise the professional standing of your Council. A domain name helps to promote your website and provides a distinctive email address for the clerk (clerk@mypc.org.uk). Your domain will cost £40 + Vat for a two year period. Download the document below, fill in the blanks, gain approval from your council and return it to the admin team.

Browsealoud

Browsealoud reads web pages aloud for people who find it difficult to read online. It makes using the Internet easier for people who have: Low literacy and reading skills; English as a second language; Dyslexia or Mild visual impairments.

New Model Publication Scheme

The Information Commissioner wants to see parishes publishing more material online - to assist with transparency and accountability.

We've produced a series of template pages on each parish site for clerks to adapt to help meet the requirements of the Commissioner. Contact the admin team with any queries.
